About Darrell McGregor

I write screenplays about resilient outsiders caught in darkly absurd situations — where grounded emotion meets biting humor with a touch of chaos.

I studied film at the University of Houston, where I wrote and directed everything from gritty neo-noir shorts to offbeat music videos. A severe neurological disorder forced me away from filmmaking — but after a long hiatus (and a lot of support from my wife and kids), I came back through screenwriting.

My scripts have placed in the Nicholl Fellowship, Austin Film Festival, PAGE Awards, Script Pipeline, Launch Pad, and Final Draft Big Break. I live in Houston, work full-time in the energy sector, and write whenever I can steal a moment.
